Steal This Recipe From LA’s Hottest New Restaurant
Maybe it's because we're loyal, maybe it's because we're lazy, or maybe it's because we would rather stab our eyes out than have to battle LA traffic, but it has recently come to our attention that we very rarely venture outside of our local go-to's for dinner. So, we were relieved to discover that we now have one very good reason to travel to a place called Baldwin Hills -- namely, the newly-opened restaurant Post & Beam.
We're still not all that clear on where exactly Baldwin Hills is (kidding, map here), but we're anxious to get there after having read mouth-watering reviews on Chef Govind Armstrong-created dishes such as Sticky Little Ribs and Pizza with Charred Broccolini, Roasted Olives, Balsamic Onion, and Sweet Garlic. We are also obsessed with the fact that they have an on-site garden (geek alert: we desperately want our own little home garden someday), from which they pluck fresh vegetables for your dinner.
Speaking of which, we were able to coerce the chef into giving us his recipe for Oven-Roasted Cauliflower with Braised Chickpeas and Salsa Verde. You can thank us for this freebie by sending photos of your dish to firstname.lastname@example.org. We are seriously drooling, and it's not even 10 a.m.
You should also know that the restaurant has a great selection of wine and craft beers, and yet they will allow you to bring your own single bottles of beer for 'free corkage' if you so desire. Very Broke Girl-friendly, this Baldwin Hills place. In fact, if you're looking for something to do nearby after you've finished stuffing your face (read: somewhere to drink), we've long been fans of The Mandrake. The perfect evening out...in Baldwin Hills. Who knew?
