The Perfect Detox Day in LA

We don’t know about you, but Coachella absolutely wrecked us.  Since the big event is over, and summer is a good month and a half away, we feel that now is as good a time as any to nurse ourselves back to health.  Accordingly, we’ve put together a wellness-centric itinerary today to help wean you off of the sauce (and out of your Free People clothing) so that you can preserve your youth for future Coachella seasons to come.

Start your day out with an 8 a.m. pay-by-donation yoga class at Bryan Kest’s Power Yoga -- remember, the early bird gets the smoking hot body.  If you need a little more movement (or an extra hour of sleep) try free Zumba at 9 a.m. on Saturdays at Santa Monica Place instead.  On Sundays, you can also take an hour of free yoga at 9:30 a.m. at the Lululemon in Brentwood.

Afterward, grab some Warm Chia Seed Oatmeal at Planet Raw, or just about any item off of True Food Kitchen’s brunch menu.  Whatever you choose, load up without going too heavy, because we’re sending you on a hike up Mishe Mokwa Trail to Sandstone Peak afterward.  Or, if that’s too far to drive, stick to our favorite go-to, Temescal.

On the way home, stop by Neptune’s Net for some fresh seafood (skip the fried stuff!), or head back to Santa Monica to make yourself the best salad ever at Mrs. Winston’s Green Grocery.  

After lunch, take your pick from a variety of activities, some aggressive, some leisurely.  Swing over to Marina Del Rey to work your booty out at a discount at The Studio (MDR), for example, or take advantage of your free RIPPED class at YAS in Venice.  If the weather is too nice to be indoors, join (or form) a beach volleyball game or rent a beach cruiser and ride it to Venice, Marina Del Rey, or even all the way to Manhattan Beach. If at this point you can’t stomach the thought of any more exercise, peruse one of Santa Monica’s amazing farmers' markets (we prefer Main Street on Sundays), get a massage (we recommend Lamai Thai Massage in VeniceThe Massage Place, or any Lifebooker deal), or indulge in an acupuncture treatment (Lifebooker has a deal today -- $23 for one session at Balance From Within, but you can see every Lifebooker acupuncture deal in LA here).

Then, If you’re not either too relaxed or too exhausted to move, head back up north for a horseback ride at sunset. Check Groupon and LivingSocial regularly for deals.

For dinner afterward, try Seed. Or, cook something using your farmers' market bounty -- here are a few delicious and wholesome recipes to get you started.  

After dinner, try a DIY facial or, if you’re too lazy at this point to go to the effort, simply try spreading a little manuka honey on your skin.
