BGG Weekender
We can think of few events we enjoy more than the Super Bowl, and among them we do not count the-holiday-that-shall-remain-nameless on the 14th. It’s nice that the superfluous-holiday-planning-gods always prep us for the V-day explosion of sap with this one big day of beer-drinking, wing-eating, and, of course, man-hunting. Enjoy!
Also, remember to enter to win our $500 AmEx giftcard giveaway with Refinery29 before the weekend begins!
Friday
End this brutal week with a mellow, relaxing dinner. Take advantage of the final night of dineLA's affordable fixed-price menus at any of the spots on this list.
Saturday
In anticipation of a rather non-girlie Sunday, we’ve put together a less-than-manly Saturday. Begin with free beauty treatments and fitness classes at the Better You Launch Event at the Annenberg Beach House from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Afterward, hit up the JewelMint and ClosetRich Pop-Up to raid vintage finds from the closets of celebs like Kate Bosworth and Nicole Richie. Then, because you can never have too much vintage, hightail it on over to the Santa Monica Vintage Fashion Expo -- entry is $8.
When you’ve finished digging for buried treasure, hit up a wine tasting at Wally’s in Westwood, $10. Then, try to make it over east for a V-day party at Myrtle boutique in Echo Park. Stick around afterward for dinner at Red Hill or Post & Beam. Finish up your night at the Underground Rebel Bingo Club, location still TBD.
Sunday
If you’re hosting a party on Sunday, you may want to check out these tips from the adorable, award-winning event producer Cara Kleinhaut. Also, here are some healthy snack recipes and some not-so-healthy snack recipes.
If you prefer to view the game in a bar full of strangers, here’s a great list of all the best places to go. You may also want to reference this list of our favorite sports bars in LA, though we’ve since added a preference for Rock & Reilly’s.
If for some reason you're not into the Super Bowl, feel free to return to the Vintage Fashion Expo, which is open all day on Sunday. You football teetotalers may also enjoy a performance by Seth MacFarlane (singing -- he’s amazing!) on Sunset later Sunday night, followed by 50% drinks at The Wine Expo from 5 p.m. - 10 p.m. (plus 10% off purchases in the store).
One final note: Broke girls don’t bet, so leave your gambling shoes at home this weekend! Oh, and speaking of shoes...it’s never okay to wear heels to a Super Bowl party -- never! Don’t be that girl.
