BGG Weekender

At long last, our beloved weekend has arrived. But, what to do with it while it lasts? Since every moment of our star-crossed romance with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday is precious, we’ve put together a weekend itinerary that’ll keep us distracted from the knowledge that in just a few short days, this fling will be over.

Friday: Date Night

6:30 p.m. - Loosen up after work with a drink and/or bar bite at Ray’s & Stark Bar at LACMA.  Bring your own bottle - corkage is free.  Afterward, check out the Tim Burton exhibit. Entry is $15.

9 p.m. - Canoodle over a cocktail (or $6 beer) at Whisper Lounge and share a pizza or flatbread for $12 or $13.

10:15 p.m. - Catch Super 8 at The Grove. We haven't been this excited to be scared in a long time.

Saturday: Grab the Girls

3 p.m. - Hit up the Food Truck Chow Down for some dim sum, grilled cheese, or any number of snacks before these mobile eateries meet the end of their 5 minutes.

4:30 p.m. - Peruse Art in the Streets at MOCA. Buy a Banksy. Oops, we meant 'buy a postcard.'

6:00 p.m. - If you haven’t already, do some discount damage at the Steven Alan Sample Sale.
7:30 p.m. - Be the first of your friends to try out dinner at the new Urbano Pizza Bar (630 West 6th St.), open this weekend.

9 p.m. - Post up at Las Perlas. After a few too many drinks, reduce the odds of the mezcal migraine sure to follow with some late night tacos and tamales in-house from famed local restaurateur Bricia Lopez.

Sunday: Anything Goes

11 a.m. - Recover by way of Kegs & Eggs at Fig in Santa Monica. Nothing says ‘Eff you, Monday!’ quite like an endless pitcher of beer.

1 p.m. - Rent a bike at the beach in Santa Monica and go for a spin unless, that is, you're spinning (from the booze), in which case you might want to opt for a nap on the sand instead.

5 p.m. - Wait for a seat outside at Blue Plate Oysterette.  Split a lobster roll and some relatively cheap Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc as the sun makes its way toward setting.

7:30 p.m. - If you’re still standing, take a seat at The Aero for a screening of Harold and Maude.  Stay for the discussion with Peter Bart and Cameron Crowe.
Tickets are $11.
10 p.m. - Turn in early and bid adieu to your brief love affair with leisure.  Oh, and don’t forget the Advil.
