Best of the Broke: January

Good morning!

The birds are chirping, the sun is shining, and you’re sitting at your desk counting down the minutes from Monday to Friday. To help you get through it, we’ve put together a little refresher on our best content this month.

And since January is always a bit rough given it marks the end of the holiday season, we’ve decided to reward you for surviving it with $25 off an order of $50 or more at The Real Real.  The Real Real is our favorite new designer consignment boutique -- check out their inventory list here -- and some of the major closets they consign from include those of Molly Sims, Courtney Cox, and Whitney Port. To get the discount, use promo code “BGG$25” at checkout.

We knew you overdid it last month, so we tried to help you repair the damage with skincare tips from esthetician Shani Darden of The Body Well.  We also brought you haircare tips (and a major discount on color) from famed stylist Yoshi Hagiwara as well as a list of fellow Beverly Hills’ stylist Theodore Leaf’s favorite hair products under $5.

So as not to seem completely superficial, we also concerned ourselves with your health by bringing you 5 health-related items under $25 that you need to buy this month as well as tips for curing your holiday-inflamed sugar addiction.  We even brought you a healthy recipe from one of LA’s hottest new restaurants, Post & Beam.

Speaking of hot restaurants, this month we enlisted the help of our favorite food writer, Kat Odell, in creating a list of spots to hit up during dineLA, which runs through the end of this week.

As January is as good a month as any to realize you hate your job and should find a new one, we interviewed the InternQueen to get her advice on finding a position you’ll actually love, no matter your place on the ladder.

To make sure you look and sound interesting on your job interviews, we brought you six ways to get cultured ASAP as well as some advice on how to dress like a chic Parisian (from a chic Parisian!) while on a broke-girl-budget.

For those of you who don’t have jobs in the movie business but like to pretend you do, we put together a list of ways in which you can blend in at Sundance, which includes some major winter weather items you should buy now as they start to go on sale.

And finally, to show that we care about your love life as we head into February, we also gave you five simple steps to marrying Michael Fassbender

If you like what we’ve done to improve your life this month without breaking your sad little post-holiday bank, tell your friends!  Also, find us on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Polyvore for more fun Broke Girl’s Guide content!
