Take a Study Break + 5 Free Grown-Up Classes We Love

Once college is done, you somehow tend to forget all of the late nights spent cramming for tests or pulling papers out of thin air.  Next week, we’d like to honor the fact that those of you still in school are likely doing a lot of hard work by throwing you a party that’s more about relaxing than keg-standing. The event, co-hosted by Intern Queen and Spaphile, will take place Tuesday, October 25th, from 6-9 p.m. at the Aveda Institute in Westwood.  We’ll be offering tons of free spa and  beauty treatments as well as an internship panel with speakers from Us Weekly, Teen Vogue, Stand Up To Cancer, The Mark Gordon Company, and more. There will also be gift bags for the first hundred guests as well as a raffle to benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. RSVP to our “Study Break” event here!  (And while this event may be in honor of students, don’t worry, “students of life” are welcome too.)

As we see no reason to let our brains and bodies atrophy just because our college days have passed, here is a list of five FREE 'grown-up' classes we love:

1. Zumba classes at Santa Monica Place -- You know how we feel about anything Latin-American.  Saturdays, 9-10 a.m.

2. OpenCulture.com -- If you, like us, majored in something completely useless, this resource for online classes plucked from major universities might help you learn something actually applicable to life.  Take classes from the likes of MIT and Stanford

3. Artisanal Cocktail Classes at The Association -- After graduation, the days of choking back shots with names like Redheaded Slut are numbered. Learn how to make grown-up drinks on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

4. Meditation Classes via Sahaja Meditation -- The only quiet time we enjoyed in college was when we were passed out. Don't let the same be said for you in adulthood.

5. Around the World in 80 Dishes via Epicurious.com -- In college, it seemed we were always jetsetting.  In the real world, not so much (pesky jobs!).  While a bit subdued, these videos can help you create a little slice of foreign life without leaving your kitchen.
