We are more than a little addicted to our morning health shakes, so when Designer Whey asked us to create a sample recipe for their ShakeDown contest, we were up for the challenge. This week's contest colors were orange and yellow, so we concoted a smoothie we affectionately like to call "Broke & Bananas." The recipe is as follows:
1 cup vanilla almond milk
1 scoop vanilla designer whey
1 banana
1 cup frozen mango
3 tbsp cream of coconut
1/4 cup vanilla yogurt
Combine and blend! Add more almond milk if you like your smoothies more liquid-y, or more banana or frozen mango if you want it thicker or slushier.
As judges, we're not eligible to win the contest, but you are! To enter next week's round of the competition, submit a recipe here. Shakes must be 350 calories or less, include at least one serving of Designer Whey protein powder, use at least one ingredient based on the color of the week (purple/brown!) and cannot contain food coloring.
The winner will receive a HealthMaster Blender, a Designer Whey protein power pack, and a signed copy of Dr. Melina's latest book "The Calendar Diet." Good luck to all!!!
