Fake It ‘Til You Make It: DIY This Celeb-Approved, All-Natural Moisturizing Facial
After watching the Golden Globes on Sunday night--and obsessing endlessly over Globes coverage all day on Monday--we have to ask: are we the only people completely mesmerized by Actress Skin Syndrome? Side effects of which include a natural, healthful glow, utterly invisible pores, and not a wrinkle in sight? Must be nice to have the budget for Creme de la Mer, weekly facials, and a healthy, cold-pressed juice habit. (They said, bitterly.)
Like the most remarkable and relentless of actors, however, we don’t give up easily, and we refuse to believe our skin has to look broke just because we're "broke" girls. So, we decided to take a page out of the never-not-glowing (even amongst the coal and poverty of imperial Russia) Keira Knightley, who apparently can’t live without her all-natural, honey-based moisturizer by Mario Badescu.
As it turns out, honey is a humectant, which is just a scientific way of saying that it attracts and retains moisture—making it more or less the perfect ingredient for dry, tortured winter skin. Below, find our remedy for cold, chapped, "normal person" skin this season: a moisturizing mask guaranteed to get you through 'til spring...without the sucker’s price tag those glowing celebrities pay.
All-Natural Honey Moisture Mask
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon avocado
½ tablespoon plain, full-fat yogurt
½ tablespoon whole milk
Mix in a small bowl. Apply to dry skin and leave on for 10 minutes. Wash off with warm water.
