If You’re Still in LA…

…and haven’t yet finished your shopping, I like this last minute, local gift list from Refinery29.  Still, if I were making the t-shirt, it would read ‘I Never Read Your Script, and Neither Did Most of the People at the Company Who Bought It.”  That, or a simple “Your Script Sucked” could really come in handy for those notes meetings I’m always agreeing to after being forced into reading scripts written by my next door neighbor, hairdresser, garbage man, etc.   Really, people, I know it might not seem this way given the fact that movies such as ‘Year One’ somehow manage to get made, but it does help if you’ve ever read a script – or a book, even – before sitting down to pen your opus.

Borders on La Cienega Going Out of Biz

Hipster Borders Clerk circa 10pm last night: “Oh, are these for you are are they gifts?” as he points to my stack, which includes The World According to Garp by John Irving, Against the Day by Thomas Pynchon, and some pink chic lit book I read about in Elle or something that looked like it could be a fun fluff read.

Me: “Guess.”

Hipster McGee: “This one,” he says, holding up the pink book, “is for you. The others are gifts.”

Ahem, sir. Just because you, clearly, like to be judged by your appearance (yes! your skinny jeans and chic nerd glasses instantly signify your depth of character and inherent coolness) does not mean I do. And just because I am blond does not mean I only read books with pink covers.

Anyhoo, everything at the Borders on La Cienega is 20% off right now because the store is going out of business. I’m sad about the store if only because it was always my last minute, oops I forgot to get a gift, go-to. However, I’m not particularly opposed to the idea of Hipster McGee joining the unemployment line.
