It’s been awhile since I’ve wasted your time like this, mostly because I haven’t had the time to waste in helping you waste yours. Today I’m checked out, though, so here you go:
Ciudad is yummy, 30% off is delicious. [Blackboard Eats]
Last week I went to a makeup line launch party, and the artist asked me which cosmetic brands I prefer. My response was something along the lines of “whatever I can steal from my mom and/or get free from launches like this one.” Anyway, on the off chance I’m actually going to purchase my next round of beauty products, it’s nice to know that Topshop and H&M offer affordable options. [Refinery 29]
Part of my New Years resolution was that I’d no longer be seen at places like this. No, that wasn’t me you saw at Voyeur on Saturday…or Thursday…well, at least this offers me an alternative to Voyeur, right? [Eater LA]
This website makes me happy every day. And if you are a regular reader of this blog, you know that’s no easy task. I was particularly taken with this lovely Parisian/travel-themed posting. It has nothing to do with being broke, except perhaps that it’s my love of things like this that keeps my bank account funneled into Kayak.com. [This Is Glamorous]
LA public schools are about to get worse. My advice? Marry rich. Just kidding. Kind of. [Huff Po]
One of my exes is a reporter covering the quake in Chile. Kind of hope he falls into the rubble, but happy this little guy was pulled out. [Huff Po]
And finally, those of you interested in fighting through hordes of dbag gatecrashers should take note of this special offer from Hollywood Tans in honor of the Oscars this weekend. [Hollywood Tans]

Got some exciting news last night so couldn’t sleep. As a result, even more useless at my day job than usual…
Is it just me or does flying seem extra dangerous as of late? I think I might actually be scared into saving money by taking the train. We still have those, right? [LAist and Daily News La]
Yeah, I’m over it. [NYT]
Cheap pizza, late at night? Just keep plugging along, LA, and one day maybe you’ll be NYC. In the meantime, yum. [Yo, Venice]
Mmmmmmm, Pancakes. [HuffPo]
Finally, a way to keep track of all of the gourmet food trucks…if you still care. I heard something about banana pudding and chicken wings today and I think that ended it for me. [Lalawag]
Cheap osteoporosis prevention. [HuffPo]
Allegedly, there’s a lot of happiness in California. Just not specifically in LA, it would seem. But…the weather’s so nice here. [HuffPo]

Not sure if you’ve noticed, but I’m ignoring this holiday. Not because I’m a jaded, bitter Angeleno who would rather gauge her eyeballs out then brave another douchebag LA date, but because I feel like the market for Valentine’s Day pandering is a little oversaturated.
I don’t have any recommendations for you for the weekend, other than to go see Dear John – and I only say that because my best friend made the movie (And it’s got to be better than Valentine’s Day, which I’m still hoping turns out to be a slasher flick). Or, you could always do what I’m doing, which is spending time with my 2010 valentines – KFC, Ben & Jerry’s, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Anyway, my intern Alexis, who is still young and fresh and hopeful, would like you to know that The Farm of Beverly Hills is offering a three course prix fixe menu for $35, which is kind of perfect because you and your really excited date can gorge yourselves at The Grove location before suffering through enjoying the obligatory sappy romantic dramedy.
My sweet intern also wants you to know that Voda Spa is currently offering an Economic Spa Stimulus package which includes a 20 minute massage, 20 minute facial, 10 minute Banya Platza, and 20 minute Wild Berry Scrub for $99. This is, I suppose, either a great Valentine’s Day gift for your significant other or an alternative to KFC for yourself.

You can clearly tell which one applies to me…
I’m in agreement with Refinery29 on this, and am 1 of 3 people excited to see overalls come back. [Refinery29]
No need to blow your wad on Pizzeria Mozza when Domino’s is allegedly delicious. And on this note, have you guys tried D’Amores on 3rd (and in Malibu)? It’s “healthy” pizza, but it tastes good AND (as I discovered this weekend) still works to cure hangovers.
I feel like this could be a super cute addition to a ‘hang with the boys’/sports bar type outfit. Plus, it’s (potentially) free. [Stylelist]
More gratis ways for me to carry on long distance affairs with foreign lovers? Yes, please. [TweetMeme]
Couture for the masses (that would be us) here and here.
More faux exclusive travel sample sales we still can’t afford. [Thrillist]
Thanks for putting the upcoming Barney’s Warehouse Sale on my radar, Little Miss Perfect McPerfectkins. [Cupcakes and Cashmere]
And speaking of sales. [Refinery29]
I’m not generally on the hate a banker bandwagon (just specifically, in regards to my ex) but I do HATE this bank, so… [HuffPo]
Last but by no means least, a little perspective. [LAist]

A girlfriend of mine recently started dating a guy she met at the gym. This would never happen to me, as I tend to look like Gollum when I workout – no makeup, messy hair, sweat – not a good look. For those of you who, like me, prefer to get in good shape for a man (I mean, for yourself) while not in the presence of men, I suggest you try this free 3 day pass to Fit Dimensions, an all female workout facility in Brentwood. Ready your dingiest sweats, remove that ridiculous makeup, and check out a full list of no boys allowed class descriptions here.

Digging the Silence & Noise number on this list of spicy red V-day dresses, and for $78 it’s a steal. Wore red to a party on Saturday, never felt hotter…[Refinery 29]
I’m trying to figure out if these are heinous in real life or something, because on screen they look adorable, and for 1/3 of their original price. [FabSugar]
Present this coupon to participating Peet’s Coffee locations before 2/3 and enjoy a buy one, get one free special. [Peet's Coffee]
I usually spend less than $10 a day on food, but for those of you who aren’t desolately broke this is a pretty good Groupon. [Groupon]
These are definitely not accessible for Broke Girls (or for anyone – I can’t seem to find them anywhere) but I’ve just stumbled upon this blog posting and I’m obsessed. [Fashion Rules]

I vote ‘meh,’ on Sonia Rykiel for H&M, except for maybe the stripey tights and the platform shoes. [Refinery29]
We had a more comprehensive list of cheap/DIY beauty treatments in our guest blog, but these would be good additions to the regime. [StyleList]
I love Wabi-Sabi, and for 30% off I’ll actually trek it to Venice for once. [Blackboard Eats]
Though I’m not sure if I would wear any of the dresses pictured here, it’s worth noting that Marc Jacobs is up to 75% off at theOutnet.com right now. [Stylelist]

I can’t stand Rachel Zoe, but I’m obsessed with this outfit. Get it for $10,000 less than what she probably spent on it:

How good does this look, particularly when viewed from your miserable little cubicle? [Cupcakes and Cashmere]
As good an idea as any for passing V-day away, I suppose. I’m personally still hoping that Valentine’s Day movie turns out to be a slasher pic, but that’s just me…[LAist]
Normally I feel guilty about eating (read: binging on) cookies, but thanks to this Haitian fundraiser I can feel good about sitting at home on Sunday night, downing 10 pounds of cookies, and crying to The Notebook…for once. [LAist]
Ever since I first saw Vicky Cristina Barcelona, I’ve wanted to take a photography class. Or date Javier Bardem. I’m not sure which…but since this darkroom experience is actually within reach, I should probably go with it. [Yo, Venice]
Normally the words Ann and Taylor don’t work for me when used together to describe a shopping destination, but as Refinery29 points out, Ann Taylor’s new lingerie collaboration with Eberjey is adorable and affordable. Looooooooooove the purple bra pictured. [Refinery 29]
And finally, Sample sale mania [Refinery 29]

Every bats*** crazy girl I know is planning to get up at 4am this Saturday to get in line for the DecadesTwo Shoe Sale, which will take place at 9am. Yes, that’s right, these dedicated crazies ladies are planning to stand in line for four to five hours to get (hopefully) first crack at the heavily discounted Jimmy Choos, Christian Louboutins, Lavins, Pradas, and Guccis. In their defense, ALL PAIR WILL BE UNDER $150. Coffee Bean may not yet be open at that time, but there’s nothing like the smell of desperate women fighting over Louboutins to get you going in the morning…
