Sake House Miro

Before I found Sake House Miro , I more or less had to take out a loan every time I craved a spicy tuna roll in L.A. Sake House, a hole-in-the-wall located on the corner of 8th and La Brea, is the neighborhood sushi place our New York counterparts find aplenty, but with better, L.A.-quality sushi. The ambiance is kitschy but not trendy and the crowd is usually at least half Japanese, which I always consider to be a good sign. Depending on the night of the week, there may be a short wait as the place is small, but it’s well worth it for the unbelievably inexpensive Japanese tapas, sushi, beer, wine, and sake. During normal hours, sushi starts at $3.30 for 2 pieces, rolls start at $3.50, and drinks start at $4.95. If that’s not cheap enough, Sake House offers not one but two happy hours each day, the first from 11:30am – 2pm and the second from 6pm – 8pm. Obviously, this isn’t the place to have ‘Hamachi Fusion with soy citrus truffle essence’ served to you by starving actresses, but it’ll deliver you a fun sushi fix without forcing you to sell your car to pay it off.
